About Majestic in France

Who are Majestic?

We are the largest wine warehouse chain in the UK, with almost 150 stores across England Scotland and Wales, and are listed on the London Stock Exchange. We also have three stores in northern France.

Who are Wine & Beer World?

Majestic's stores in France are called 'Wine & Beer World' (but they also have a big Majestic logo on them so you can't miss us!). Set up in 1993 we have over 10 years experience selling wine to travellers making the most of the low duty rates in France. We have brough Majestic's buying power and retailing skills to the channel ports and, although our range isn't identical, you'll find many Majestic favourites here. When you can't make a trip to France try Majestic in the UK at Majestic.co.uk.

Do you offer glass hire?

Majestic stores in the UK keep base stocks of glasses which Wine & Beer World customers are welcome to borrow (deposit payable). This service is subject to availability and must be arranged in conjunction with a pre-order. More details

Yes. We offer tastings all day every day in our stores. We always have a wide selection of our best offers available to taste. We can also open additional wines, provided stocks allow and at our discretion.

Can you help me?

Yes. Most of our staff are either British or English-speaking and there is always someone English-speaking on hand who can offer all the product advice you need. Alternatively, contact our UK office on 01923 298297 for expert help in advance of travelling.

How much to buy

How much can I buy?

You can bring home as much wine, beer and spirits as you like, providing it is for your own use (which includes gifts, weddings and parties). Customs & Excise publish guidelines of what can be considered reasonable, which are:

  • Wine and/or Champagne: 90 litres
  • Beer: 110 litres
  • Spirits: 10 litres

These are guidelines only and customs do not enforce strict limits. However, if you are bringing back more you should be ready to show it is for personal use. Please visit www.hmce.gov.uk or phone 0845 010 9000 for more information.

How much can I carry?

A normal family saloon will easily carry 10 cases (12 bottles) of wine (at 15 kg each), 10 packs (24 x 33cl NRB) of beer (at 15 kg each), 8 boxes (6 bottles) of Champagne (at 10kg each), and the driver. If in doubt, check your driver's manual for the load capacity of your car.

Can I pre-order before travelling?

Yes. We will happily prepare an order placed before you leave home. Simply contact us and we'll do the rest. However, due to UK duty laws payment must be made in person in France.

Do you have a price list?

Yes. Click here to download the list or request one by post.

Do you deliver to the UK?

No I'm afraid not. UK duty laws mean that the only way to make the most of the French duty saving is to shop in person. See our UK website for UK delivery.
